Michael Burcham presented the "Startup Tennessee" entrpreneurship program to the noon Rotarians last Friday.

At Friday’s meeting of the Tullahoma Noon Rotary Club, local venture capitalist Dan Marcum introduced a powerful new ally in the state’s ongoing efforts to create jobs in Tennessee, namely Michael Burcham.

Auto-manufacturing jobs will increase significantly in Middle Tennessee during 2012, as the assembly plants of Nissan in Smyrna and General Motors in Spring Hill ramp up production of new models, and Nissan begins building lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles at its new $1.7 billion facility in Smyrna.

A good year is also expected for downtown apartment development. But a large-scale undertaking planned for the new downtown convention center could face a moment of truth.
