How do I apply?
All EC Members can apply to the Slingshot Program. Click the button that says Join Now and on your application, please click the “Apply to EC Slingshot Program.” Center staff will follow-up with your contact information to set up a meeting and evaluate your candidacy.
How does the program work?
The EC Slingshot program is built around expectations for launching a company and accelerating the time to market. The Center expects Slingshot companies to be able to close Angel or Series A funding and launch their company within 6 months of working with the Center.
Slingshot Companies will work a 100 day program to Build their Investable Story using the 4M Process, then start actively pitching investors for the 2nd 100 days.
What is the benefit of working out of the Center?
Two words. Idea Flow. We usually have over 20 companies working out of the center at any given time. They are often working through many of the same problems and overcoming the same obstacles. When companies are working from within the center, they are able to crowd source common problems and quickly deal with questions that might otherwise take days or weeks to solve.
Additionally, with open access to all mentors, EC staff, and the entrepreneurs, there is an extreme amount of resources information to help a company launch.
What is the 4:M Building an Investable StoryTM Program?
An Investable Story is an EC business plan that is built as a pitch tool with the investor in mind. It is meant to create an attractive investment proposal by thoroughly refining the business MODEL, assembling an investable MANAGEMENT team, understanding and developing a high-quality MARKET plan, and projecting launch, operations, scale, and growth MONEY needs.
What does access to personal networks mean?
Within the EC Target Industries, the Center has well developed contacts and networks at high levels that can accelerate a company’s launch.
What resources and amenities are provided with the workspace and the facilities?
The Center provides 24/7 access to work space which includes internet, a desk, chair, cabinet space, printers and fax. The space is designed with the resources needed to launch a business.
When can I get introduced to investors?
The Center makes personal introductions to investors on behalf of EC Slingshot Companies. Those introductions happen in a formal capacity when a company is ready to pitch and close.
How much does the program cost?
The program is $2,500 per quarter, however there are opportunities for investors to sponsor the cost of the program often in return for equity.
Does the EC take an equity position in EC Slingshot companies as part of the contract?
No.
What happens if a company hasn’t closed funding within 6 months?
It depends on the company and the state of the business. By contract we allow up to 9 months to work with us as a Slingshot company. A business that has exhausted its investment potential and is unable to make a pivot as a viable potential investment will be asked to leave. The Program serves companies actively seeking investment.
I am currently working on a business and have office space. Can I still work through the EC Slingshot Program?
Yes. The program is based on time-to-market, not where an entrepreneur chooses to work.
